Central Railroad of New Jersey Terminal
The restored 1889 Central Railroad of New Jersey terminal preserves a grand rail concourse at Liberty State Park. Many immigrants continued their journeys from this waterfront gateway after arriving at Ellis Island.

The terminal makes the next stage of an immigrant journey visible: arrival at the harbor was often followed by a train inland. Its broad concourse and former ferry setting show how rail and water transport met at this point. Stand inside the historic space, then look back across the water toward Ellis Island to connect the two parts of that journey.
