San Marco
The church and former Dominican complex carry the Medici imprint of 15th-century Florence, though confirmed access supports approaching them as an exterior stop.
Why go
Pause here to place the neighboring museum in its original religious setting. Cosimo de’ Medici commissioned Michelozzo to rebuild the convent from 1437, and San Marco later became inseparable from the preaching and downfall of the Dominican reformer Girolamo Savonarola.
Useful to know
View the religious complex from Piazza San Marco, then use the separate museum entry for the former friary interiors.
Check the church’s own timetable if you hope to enter; museum hours do not establish church access.
