Why go
The boutiques are only one layer of Via de' Tornabuoni. Walking from Piazza degli Antinori to Ponte Santa Trinita reveals merchant palaces from several centuries, including Palazzo Strozzi, Palazzo Bartolini Salimbeni and Palazzo Spini Feroni. The street's straight line also preserves traces of changing walls, waterways and ceremonies.
What to look for
- Palazzo Strozzi's rusticated block dominates the middle stretch of the street.
- Piazza Santa Trinita gathers a church, column and contrasting palace facades.
- The southern end opens directly onto Ponte Santa Trinita and the Arno.
Useful to know
- Walk south toward the Arno for a clear progression from Palazzo Strozzi to Piazza Santa Trinita.
- Treat boutique hours and palace access separately from the public street.
- Pause at side streets and the piazza to see complete facades rather than focusing only on shopfronts.
