Chūō-ku (中央区)
Chūō-ku brings together Tenjin's downtown streets, Ōhori Park and the Fukuoka Castle ruins. It is the central ward for mixing city life with a waterside walk and history.
Tenjin and Daimyō give this ward its shopping and street-life center, while Ōhori Park and the nearby castle ruins shift the day toward open space and older Fukuoka. The Fukuoka Art Museum adds an indoor stop beside the pond, making this a useful area for a varied central outing.
What to look for
Tenjin and Daimyō form the ward's downtown core.
Ōhori Park's pond lies near the Fukuoka Castle ruins.
Fukuoka Art Museum sits beside the park.
Useful to know
Group Ōhori Park, the castle ruins and the art museum together before heading to Tenjin.
Leave room for an outdoor walk if you are combining the museum with the park.
