Why go
This route suits a day when you want culture and shopping in the same neighborhood, with several sheltered stops. The Fukuoka Asian Art Museum sets a broad regional frame. Kawabata Shopping Arcade then brings you back to street level, close to Hakata's traditional craft displays and the rooms of the Hakata Machiya Folk Museum. Give the museums enough time to see more than their entrances; the stops are intentionally close together. Canal City is an optional final browse if you still have energy. The mix works especially well when outdoor sightseeing is less appealing, though short walks between buildings remain exposed.
