Jōten-ji Temple
Jōten-ji is a thirteenth-century Hakata temple associated with monk Enni and local craft and food traditions. Its gate and planted grounds reward a short stop in the temple quarter.
Why go
Visit for the relationship between the old temple and Hakata's merchant culture, then pause at the gate and gardens. It works well within a Gion walking route, especially alongside Shōfuku-ji and Tōchō-ji. Keep the visit to public areas unless the temple posts wider access.
