Climate and weather in Germany
Germany has no reliable dry season, and weather changes noticeably between the North Sea coast, the eastern lowlands and the Alps. Pack for the region, not a single national forecast.
Why go
The northwest has a milder, maritime pattern, while eastern Germany can have colder winters and warmer summers. The central uplands and the Alps are cooler and wetter than nearby lowlands. Those contrasts matter when you combine a city stay with a mountain or coastal outing.
Useful to know
Carry a rain layer in any season; rainfall is spread through the year.
Check a separate forecast for an Alpine or upland excursion rather than using the nearest city forecast.
For a trip crossing east and west, pack for a wider temperature range than one stop suggests.
