Why go
The Frauenkirche, Semperoper and Zwinger show the scale of the former Saxon royal capital. Brühl's Terrace offers a different angle over the Elbe. Much of this historic center was devastated in 1945 and later rebuilt, so the visit also asks you to look at what was restored and why.
What to look for
- The Frauenkirche and Semperoper anchor the rebuilt historic center.
- The Zwinger recalls Dresden's Saxon court culture.
- Brühl's Terrace looks across the Elbe.
Useful to know
- Walk the historic center before moving to Brühl's Terrace for the river perspective.
- Check individual building access if you want interiors rather than an architectural walk.
