East Side Gallery
Follow a surviving stretch of the Berlin Wall beside the Spree, now covered in murals made after 1989. The 1.3-kilometre outdoor walk takes longer than a single mural photograph.
Why go
Artists from many countries painted this former border barrier after the Wall fell. Their images respond to the upheaval of 1989 and 1990, and the continuous wall makes the scale of the division easier to grasp. Start at either Ostbahnhof or Warschauer Straße and walk the length if the weather allows.
