Englischer Garten

Munich's long landscape park offers meadows, streams and city views. Use the southern section for a manageable walk from the Old Town; the whole garden is far larger.

Englischer Garten

Why go

At the southern entrance you can watch the Eisbach surfers from the bank, then continue toward the Monopteros for a view over the trees and rooftops. The park was designed as a public landscape garden rather than a formal palace ground. Paths and open lawns make it a welcome change of pace after central museums.

What to look for

  • Watch the Eisbach surfers from a safe bank
  • The Monopteros overlooks the southern park

Useful to know

  • Plan roughly 75 minutes; allow 120 if you want a slower visit.
  • This outdoor site can be visited without a fixed tour slot.
