Why go
Hampden matters to Scottish football history as well as to current matches. A stadium tour can reveal the dressing rooms and cup presentation route; an event delivers the crowd experience those spaces were built for. Choose which version you want before travelling to Mount Florida.

The full story
The present Hampden Park opened in the early twentieth century, after two earlier grounds had used the same name. It became a home for major Scottish football occasions, including national-team matches and cup competitions. The stadium has also hosted concerts and other sports, showing how a large arena can change use while retaining its football identity. That history is easiest to appreciate through one of two visitor experiences. On a match day, the crowd and pitch make the national role immediate. On a tour, quieter spaces such as the dressing rooms and presentation area show the preparation and ritual behind an event. The Scottish Football Museum, at the stadium, offers a different route through objects and records. Do not assume that a stadium ticket, museum booking and tour are interchangeable; each serves a different interest.
