The building’s pointed windows explain its fish-church name before you enter. City architect Victor von Gegerfelt designed the hall, which opened in 1874, around an open interior without pillars or partitions. That architectural space gives the fish trade a distinctive setting, with counters, restaurants and bars sharing the renovated hall.
What to look for
Pointed arched windows give the market its church-like silhouette.
The open interior was built without pillars or partitions.
Useful to know
Use the fish-counter timetable for market browsing; restaurants follow their own arrangements.
