Why go
The rounded apse and compact medieval form give Akebäck a clear architectural identity. Its fittings also show practical ingenuity: a holy-water bowl became an alms box, while a medieval crucifix was reused in a later altar. These adaptations offer more to notice than a simple sequence of building dates.
What to look for
- Three ceramic acoustic pots are visible in the choir vault.
- A carved figure lies sideways in the portal; explanations for its position differ.
- A three-metre picture stone removed from the church wall now stands in the cemetery.
Useful to know
- Confirm admission with the parish if the acoustic pots and altar are the reason for your visit.
- Include the cemetery picture stone when looking at the church exterior.
