Why go
The sturdy Romanesque tower contrasts with a high Gothic nave whose broad vaults reach the walls without supporting columns. Outside, animal reliefs from the earlier church have been built into the south wall. The building makes its successive phases visible, rather than presenting a single uniform medieval style.
What to look for
- The southern portal combines religious scenes with intricately carved foliage.
- A medieval Passion frieze survives inside alongside later painted decoration.
- The font has a wooden cover shaped like a castle.
Useful to know
- Contact Bro’s parish office to confirm admission before travelling for the paintings and font cover.
- Include the south wall as well as the main portal when examining the reused stone carving.
