Why go
The church’s gradual rebuilding remains easy to read: the older tower survived while the nave and choir changed around it. A doorway from the predecessor church was reused for the sacristy. Inside, the baptismal font rewards attention to its narrative reliefs, sculpted heads and beasts, rather than a quick glance at the building alone.
What to look for
- The straight eastern wall has three slender windows instead of a rounded apse.
- Wall runes record local rights to use a road through Fole.
- The medieval crucifix was repainted in the nineteenth century.
Useful to know
- Compare the tower with the nave outside before looking for reused Romanesque details.
- Confirm interior access with the parish before travelling for the font and paintings.
