Why go
The freestanding tower gives the churchyard a defensive dimension, while the church’s southern portal tells Old Testament stories in carved stone. Inside, a single central column divides the broad nave into four vaults. The combination lets you compare an enclosed place of protection with a much more open worship space.
What to look for
- Three Gothic windows light the straight eastern end of the choir.
- A wooden partition survives from an eighteenth-century parish grain store.
- A medieval gravestone in the choir floor carries runes.
Useful to know
- Distinguish the separate defensive tower from the church’s roof turret, which dates from 1755.
- Confirm church admission if the grain-store partition and medieval furnishings are central to your visit.
