Why go
The coherent exterior contrasts with a richer mix inside. Fifteenth-century paintings show the Passion of Christ on the north wall and women harassed by devils on the west. The altarpiece of 1521 gathers Christ, God the Father and several saints into a carved devotional scene that rewards more attention than the church’s modest scale suggests.
What to look for
- Both the nave and choir portals carry Romanesque sculpture.
- Two baptismal fonts are probably twelfth-century works.
- The displayed triumphal cross is a copy; the original is in the Swedish History Museum.
Useful to know
- Include the medieval parsonage ruins immediately west of the churchyard in your exterior visit.
- Check interior access with Fardhem-Garde parish before travelling for the paintings and altarpiece.
