Why go
The reliefs run chronologically from one doorway to the next, so the façade works as a connected narrative rather than a collection of isolated ornaments. Traces of original paint survive on some figures. The older, shorter Romanesque tower also shows how the Gothic rebuilding enlarged the church without replacing every part.
What to look for
- Sandstone portal reliefs are probably the work of the Egypticus workshop.
- The mid-sixteenth-century pulpit depicts the four evangelists.
- Yellow and red vine decoration marks the organ gallery.
Useful to know
- Look at all three portals in sequence to follow the carved narrative.
- Contact the parish about entry if you also want to see the pulpit and gallery decoration.
