Palacio de los Leones
The Palace of the Lions is a Nasrid palace within the Alhambra, centered on a marble courtyard and fountain. Its rooms make most sense as part of the timed palace visit.
Why go
The courtyard gathers slender columns, water channels and private rooms into a single design. Stand back to see how the channels lead toward the lion fountain, then look at the carved surfaces in the surrounding halls. The sequence reveals a different side of the Alhambra from the fortress walls.
What to look for
Water channels converge on the Lion Fountain at the courtyard's center.
A gallery of slender marble columns surrounds the patio.
Carved plasterwork and vaulting distinguish the rooms opening off the courtyard.
