Real Monasterio de San Jerónimo
San Jerónimo combines a Renaissance cloister with a church known for its Mannerist main altarpiece. It offers a focused look at Granada's art after the conquest.
The monastery was founded under the Catholic Monarchs, and its spaces make that new period visible. Walk the cloister for its classical decoration, then enter the church to see the much richer main chapel. The change in scale and ornament is more revealing than a quick exterior look.
What to look for
The Renaissance cloister uses classical arches and carved decoration.
The main chapel holds a large Mannerist altarpiece.
The church and monastery form a linked architectural visit.
