Roman Forum of Thessaloniki
Thessaloniki’s Roman Forum is a compact excavation for a central-city history walk between later urban layers. Its remains sit amid modern streets, making the ancient urban grid easy to place.
The forum remains reveal the Roman civic layer beneath modern Thessaloniki in a compact downtown block. Walk its edges to see how the excavated public space sits below today’s street level, then continue to the Rotunda for a different Roman monument. The two have separate opening arrangements.
What to look for
Inspect the surviving public square and civic structures.
Useful to know
Check the archaeological-site entrance and current hours; it is an easy city walk from the Rotunda but a distinct admission.
