Nanyue King Museum
Enter an archaeological museum built around a Western Han royal tomb, with burial objects that connect ancient Guangzhou to wider Lingnan trade.
Why go
This is the clearest place to understand Guangzhou before the modern port city. The preserved tomb chamber and objects from the Nanyue court reveal local power, craft and exchange more than two thousand years ago. Displays reward careful attention rather than a quick photo stop.
What to look for
See the excavated stone-chamber tomb and the museum's signature jade burial suit.
Trace maritime exchange through silver, ivory, incense and other imported materials.
Useful to know
Use the King's Tomb entrance at 867 Jiefang North Road; the museum also operates a separate palace site.
Check the official notice for holiday extensions and reserve lower-tomb access through the museum's WeChat account.
