Why go
The house began as the residence of Governor Kuakini and later served members of the royal family. Its rooms and objects give Kona’s royal history a human scale that a monument cannot. The seaside position also places that story beside Aliʻi Drive, where a short walk can extend the historical setting beyond the building.
What to look for
- The lava-stone house faces the Kona waterfront.
- Royal furnishings show nineteenth-century domestic life.
Useful to know
- Confirm whether guided rooms are open.
- Pair the palace with a short Aliʻi Drive walk.
