Kāneʻohe Bay
Kāneʻohe Bay is a broad reef-protected embayment beneath Oʻahu’s windward Koʻolau range. Its sheltered water and changing cloud light create one of the island’s distinctive coastal views.
Why go
This is a bay rather than a single beach destination. Look for public shore access or an authorized boat outing to understand the reef and islets, while respecting conservation areas. Wind and water conditions still matter inside the reef; choose activities through current local guidance.
What to look for
A reef shelters much of the broad bay.
Koʻolau cliffs rise behind the water.
Useful to know
Choose a lawful public shore viewpoint.
Check weather and marine conditions before boating.
