Sandy Beach
Sandy Beach is a dramatic Oʻahu shorebreak beach best appreciated from dry sand. Powerful waves break close to shore and create a vivid ocean spectacle.
Why go
This is a poor place to infer water safety from a sunny forecast. Its steep shorebreak has caused serious injuries even to experienced visitors. Watch surfers and bodyboarders from a safe distance, then use lifeguard guidance if considering the water at all.
What to look for
Steep shorebreak forms close to the sand.
The beach is a well-known bodyboarding venue.
