Why go

This walk suits visitors who like to understand a city from its edges before moving into its centre. Jesus Gate introduces the scale of the Venetian defences. Follow the wall toward the tomb on Martinengo Bastion, then pass Bethlehem Gate and spend time looking along the fortifications. After that outdoor stretch, walk north to Agios Minas Cathedral and the nearby Saint Catherine’s Museum for a quieter finish. Allow time for uneven walking around the walls and check the museum’s current access before leaving. If time is tight, keep the tomb, wall and cathedral and treat the museum as the extra visit.
