When to Visit Hiroshima
Spring and autumn generally suit outdoor walks around the castle and Peace Memorial Park. Summer brings humid heat and rain; winter can make long exposed visits colder.
Why go
Weather changes the balance between Hiroshima's outdoor memorials, river walks and indoor museums. If a summer visit is fixed, place exposed walking in the cooler part of the day and leave an indoor option. In autumn or spring, the delta and castle grounds are easier to explore on foot. Check the forecast before a bay or hill outing.
Useful to know
For a summer park visit, plan an indoor museum stop around the hottest or wettest part of the day.
Check the local forecast before adding a hill walk or trip onto Hiroshima Bay.
For a winter visit, allow for cold on the open riverbanks and memorial grounds.
