Deep square window recesses and angled fins were designed to limit direct sunlight in the former government offices. At ground level, four-storey archways lift the tower above its setting. Foster + Partners’ hotel conversion gives this 1969 building a second life while keeping those defining architectural features legible.
What to look for
Deeply recessed square windows shape the façades.
Angled fins shade the interior from direct sunlight.
Tall archways open the base of the tower.
Useful to know
Ask the hotel’s Guest Relations team about its historic tour before planning an interior architecture visit.
Combine the exterior with nearby Hong Kong Park.
