The fort gives Tung Chung a history beyond its modern transport role. Its entrance inscription dates the structure to 1832, while granite gateways and enclosing walls make the defensive layout easy to read. The six cannon are later installations, so they should not be mistaken for an untouched original battery.
What to look for
Chinese inscriptions mark the three arched gateways.
Granite walls enclose a roughly 70-by-80-metre compound.
