Battleship Texas

Battleship Texas is closed to visitors while at a Galveston shipyard. Its former San Jacinto location should not be used to plan a boarding visit.

Why go

Launched in 1912 and commissioned in 1914, Texas survives from the dreadnought era and served in both world wars. Its wartime history includes support for the Normandy landings, Iwo Jima and Okinawa. That history makes it worth following as a future museum visit, once an opening is confirmed.

Useful to know

  • Consult the Battleship Texas Foundation for confirmed access before traveling; a reopening target is not an opening date.
