Houston Museum of Natural Science
Fossils give this Hermann Park museum a strong starting point, from Wyrex the tyrannosaur to an enormous ground sloth. Additional attractions require choices beyond the main exhibition halls.
The paleontology displays reward looking at different scales and viewpoints: predators, suspended marine reptiles and a ground sloth large enough to challenge familiar ideas about prehistoric mammals. Morian Overlook provides a second-floor view of the hall. Start there if fossils are your priority, rather than trying to sample every part of the complex.
What to look for
Wyrex the tyrannosaur anchors the Morian Hall fossil displays.
