Why go
Start in Asakusa at Sensō-ji, following the gates and shopping approach into the temple precinct. Continue by public transport to Ueno for the Tokyo National Museum, where selecting one or two collection areas is more rewarding than trying to see every building. Ueno Park provides an outdoor pause beside the museum; shorten that stop if the galleries take longer than expected. Travel across the city to western Shinjuku for the metropolitan government observatory, checking its current operation before leaving Ueno. The day mixes walking and indoor visits, with lunch and transport buffers essential. Choose a museum opening day and allow roughly seven to nine hours including meals.
