Higgs Beach
Higgs Beach combines a broad Atlantic shore with nearby gardens, a pier and memorial places. The sand is part of a larger south-coast landscape rather than an isolated beach.
The appeal comes from the way the beach opens onto several different Key West stories. From the water’s edge you can take in the pier, West Martello and the historic memorial sites nearby. The shore itself remains a place to slow down, with a more varied setting than a simple swim stop.
What to look for
Public sand shallow water and nearby historic memorials
Useful to know
Allow about 75 minutes for the sand and Atlantic views.
Check Monroe County’s beach information if a shoreline project may affect your preferred section.
