Ainay, Part-Dieu and Tête d'Or

Compare Ainay's Romanesque basilica and Presqu'île churches with Part-Dieu's modern towers, then finish among the lake and botanical collections of Tête d'Or Park.

Ainay, Part-Dieu and Tête d'Or

Why go

This route suits returning visitors who want contrasts beyond Lyon's standard historic core. Begin at the Basilica of Saint-Martin d'Ainay, then compare Tour Part-Dieu with Tour Oxygène before finishing at Parc de la Tête d'Or and Lyon Botanical Garden. Annecy belongs to a separate day trip and should not be attempted as another stop. Even within Lyon, the full sequence is long, so treat smaller churches and one tower comparison as optional.

Useful to know

  • Do not combine Annecy with this city route.
  • Save at least two hours for Tête d'Or Park and the botanical garden.
  • Trim church stops if you prefer a slower park finish.
