Palheiro Gardens
This long-established hillside estate east of Funchal is especially associated with its camellias. Its estate atmosphere and seasonal flowers reward a dedicated garden outing above the city.
Choose Palheiro when the planting itself is the priority: the garden has an estate setting that feels different from Monte’s art-filled grounds. Camellias are a particular draw from November to April, while the broader collection gives the walk interest beyond one flowering season.
