Ribeira Brava
The town takes its name from the once forceful stream that reaches the sea here. It works well as a compact historic-centre and seafront stop in the west.
Why go
Walk from the historic centre toward the waterfront to understand the town’s position at the river mouth. The São Bento church and local ethnographic collection offer cultural choices if you want more than a coastal pause. The town’s name is a clue to the force of water coming down from the mountains.
