Arriving by intercity bus
Madrid's intercity buses use several large terminals, so the departure point depends on the route rather than a single citywide station.
Why go
Bus can be a useful alternative for domestic and international arrivals, but knowing the correct terminal is essential. Estación Sur and Avenida de América are important examples, each linked to the Metro. Confirm the operator's terminal and allow time for the transfer into central Madrid.
Useful to know
Check the exact terminal with your operator before travelling; Madrid does not use one universal intercity bus station.
Plan the onward Metro connection from the terminal before arrival, especially with luggage.
Allow extra time if changing between an intercity bus and a long-distance train.
