Why go

A taxi can simplify an airport transfer or a trip across the city after public transport becomes less convenient. Look for an official white vehicle with Madrid markings and an available light. It is a practical fallback, but fares and airport supplements should be confirmed at the time of travel.

• Before an airport trip, ask about the current fare and any applicable supplements.
• If hailing on the street, wait beside a major road or bus stop where passing taxis can safely stop.
