Why go
Architect Francisco Mañosa turned a familiar Philippine material into the building's defining idea. From its broad roof to its coconut-based decorative work, the palace was designed to present a national image through craft and structure. It also belongs to the ambitious building program around the Cultural Center, which gives the exterior wider historical context.
What to look for
- Look at the roofline's resemblance to a salakot, a traditional Filipino hat.
- Notice the palace's place within the larger Cultural Center complex.
Useful to know
- Confirm current public access and any tour procedure with the operator before planning an interior visit.
- If a public exterior viewpoint is available, make this a brief stop during a CCP complex visit.
- Remember that the site is in Pasay, outside the City of Manila.
