Why go
This southern day suits walkers who want the coast’s changing habitats, not just beach time. Begin with the long palm-lined curve of Plage des Salines, then use the raised path at Étang des Salines to look at mangroves and birds. From the wetland, join the marked Trace des Caps toward Anse Trabaud. The published Salines–Trabaud section is about five kilometres and two hours one way; it crosses exposed rocky ground in the Savane des Pétrifications and a small coastal watercourse. Take sturdy shoes, sun protection and water, and check conditions before setting out. Arrange a return from Anse Trabaud because this is not a loop.
