Why go
This route is for visitors who like the city itself as much as a museum. Its first half is a downtown walk: look at the library, the historic Lumber Exchange exterior and the theater district along Hennepin Avenue. Continue through Loring Park toward the outdoor works in the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, then give the Walker Art Center the longest indoor visit. The avenue stop is a streetscape walk, not admission to a theater. The garden can be brief in rain or deep cold, while the Walker deserves time only when its galleries are open. Expect one longer downtown-to-park walk.
