Why go

On a market date, begin with a short browse at Mill City Farmers Market. Otherwise start at Mill City Museum for the flour-milling story. From the museum, walk past the ruins and across Stone Arch Bridge; Father Hennepin Bluff Park gives a different angle on the falls and skyline. Nicollet Island is an optional final stroll. This mostly outdoor route suits visitors who want history in the landscape. Allow extra museum time, and shorten the exposed river sections in harsh weather.
