Why go

Take this route to see how Montpellier’s newer districts use big public spaces, striking buildings and the river together. Esplanade de l’Europe sets out Antigone’s formal axis. L’Arbre Blanc offers a very different skyline, followed by the reflective Hôtel de Ville farther south. From there the pace softens in Parc Georges Charpak before the route reaches Marché du Lez for a browse or food stop. Parc d’Arménie is an optional pause beside city hall if you want more time outdoors. Most of the day is exposed, so choose comfortable walking weather and treat the buildings as exterior views rather than assuming public access inside.
