Why go
This is a more focused day for visitors drawn to the city’s early Christian history and a slower outdoor finish. The two catacomb complexes are different visits, so allow a real block of time for each rather than rushing between them. Continue uphill to the Real Bosco di Capodimonte, where open paths and trees give the day a change of pace after the underground spaces. The area has slopes, and the final walk takes more effort than the short map distance suggests. Check guided visit arrangements for both catacombs and choose a dry spell for the woodland portion.
