Catacombs of San Gennaro
The San Gennaro catacombs reveal a broad early Christian burial complex beneath Capodimonte. This guided underground visit is substantial and separate from San Gaudioso in the Sanità.
Why go
The scale of these chambers makes early Christian Naples easier to picture than a text panel can. Passageways, tombs and surviving decoration show how burial and devotion developed below the city. Plan a dedicated tour, then decide whether you also want the distinct San Gaudioso circuit farther south.
What to look for
Wide underground passageways
Early Christian tombs and decoration
Useful to know
Verify the current guided-tour departure before heading to Capodimonte.
Do not confuse this entrance with the separate San Gaudioso catacombs.
