Why go
The 72.5-metre minaret is the visual draw, but the Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque and Alai Darwaza make the wider complex worth a deliberate circuit. Comparing the carved tower with these adjacent structures gives a fuller picture of early Indo-Islamic architecture than a quick photograph from the entrance.
What to look for
- The fluted shaft of Qutb Minar
- Alai Darwaza and the Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque within the complex
Useful to know
- Allow time for the surrounding monuments as well as the minaret.
- Check current complex entry and ticket details before travelling; the tower itself is not open for climbing.
