Audubon Park

Audubon Park offers an oak-shaded loop, lagoons and open lawns beside Tulane, with a quieter river-side section beyond the zoo for a longer outdoor visit.

Audubon Park

Why go

The park provides a calm, spacious counterpoint to the French Quarter. Walkers and cyclists circle beneath mature live oaks, birds gather around the lagoons, and the Riverview section reaches the Mississippi. Its position between Uptown neighborhoods, universities and the zoo makes it useful as either a destination or breathing space.

What to look for

  • A walking and cycling loop beneath mature live oaks
  • Lagoons, birdlife and broad open lawns
  • The Riverview section beside the Mississippi River

Useful to know

  • Use the main loop for an easy visit, or add Riverview only if you have more time.
  • Bring water and sun protection for open sections away from the oak canopy.
  • Check posted park and facility rules, especially when events affect normal access.
