Why go
The Arboretum was designed both to collect trees and to give Victorian Nottingham somewhere to relax. Opened in 1852, it retains original nineteenth-century plantings among more than 800 trees. That makes a walk here a chance to compare mature specimens while following the shape of the city’s oldest public park.
What to look for
- Original nineteenth-century trees survive within a collection of more than 800 specimens.
- Tree and heritage trails give the park two different ways to explore.
Useful to know
- Use the tree trail for the botanical collection or the heritage trail for the park’s history.
- Check the council’s current park opening information before setting out.
