Dürer’s Quarter and the Pegnitz Bridges

Why go

This walk suits travelers who enjoy old streets and the details of a neighborhood more than a succession of large museums. Spend the longest stretch inside Albrecht Dürer’s House, then look at the nearby monument before crossing the Mayor’s Garden. Weißgerbergasse shifts the focus to historic street frontages. Down at the Pegnitz, the Weinstadel and Hangman’s Bridge show how buildings and crossings meet the water. The stops after the house are deliberately brief, leaving space to look around without turning every bridge into a separate long visit. The Historic Rock-Cut Cellars are an optional guided detour near the starting area; check the tour schedule if you choose it.
