Why go
The streets between Old Town Square and Charles Bridge are convenient for small gifts, but many displays repeat the same mass-produced items. Prints and photographs give you a direct reminder of the city; Bohemian crystal and Czech garnet are more specific purchases that deserve a closer look at quality and provenance.
The full story
Start near Old Town Square if you want to see the widest range of souvenir displays in a short walk. Compare several shops before choosing a piece of crystal or jewellery, since a Prague address alone says little about where an item was made. For Czech garnet, ask the seller to explain the stone and provide documentation for a claimed origin or maker. A print or photograph of a place you visited may be a simpler memento than an object with an uncertain story. Na Příkopě has shopping arcades and general retail, while Pařížská runs from Old Town Square toward the river and is the street to consider for luxury boutiques. In the Christmas market season, the squares may offer crafts alongside food and drink; check the city’s official market dates and locations before making a special trip. If shopping is incidental to sightseeing, leave room in your bag and compare the item rather than buying the first version beside a major monument.
